Torch-up ~ Someone kicked the jukebox. Maybe there’s a similar lyric line somewhere. Not sure. Just felt right. A tip of the hat to Hank. Story song. I’ve never been to Houston. Hell, I’ve never set foot in the lone star state. But, oh I’ve met Texas ladies. Two of them. One, living in Texas, visiting her sister who had recently moved to Canada. A cabaret on Vancouver Island long, long ago. I’m in a top-40 band and it’s not my first time there. It’s Texas sister’s birthday. Oh, she’s already a bit tipsy coming with sis through the door. She asked me if we did any Shania Twain. I told her we weren’t that kind of band. Her accent killed me. I was hooked. That may have to be added next to popcorn on my “Achilles Heel” list. Not sure if it’s just the Texan drawl or a southern drawl in general. I’ve only ever spoken to the two Texan ladies. The now Canadian sister only said one line... “It’s my sister’s birthday and she wants you to be her present ..” Just totally out of the blue. Very forward. Sorry, hon. But it got me thinking .. a Canadian man in a Canadian band touring thru the red, white and blue .. and if a Texas girl asked me to dance ... hmm .. xoRJ
