One of two songs I've written about famous folk. The other being "My Sister's Bringing Alex Chilton Home" from the "Until Now" compilation. I actually met Alex, a major influence on my music. Which brings us to .. ta da .. Tiffany Bastow. You dream of a face for over twenty years and it finally comes to life. Yep, my muse. Bits and pieces in many songs. A sprinkling here and there. And finally, a name to go with the face. Then .. complete songs. Just over a year ago I saw her face on the internet for the first time. Believe me, I shook for three days when I found out my “dream face” belonged to a real person. It's been imposter after imposter. Everybody wants to be Tiff .. One day I’d like to tell her the whole story. That hasn't happened yet .. if, Tiff. I thought I was looking for the girl next door but found an American Supermodel. Interesting concept. What to do? Get it out on paper. If you've followed my side project Meet The Blacks on Facebook, you may have read the story. It's there for the reading, ten chapters worth. You'll know her in chapters one through seven as Jett Black's redo girl. In chapter eight her identity is revealed as Jennifer Barstow. Jennifer's Barstow Place is a rockabilly country swing version of the one you're hearing now. After all, they're outlaw Country .. Trust Jett Black of “Meet The Blacks” to come up with a witty title. Netflix would love her. And they will. Check out the story. It's gonna be a long one ... Texas rollercoaster, indeed .. T4Texas .. And hey Tiff, this can always be your home away from home. A "Tiffany Bastow Place" if you will .. xoRJ
I fall asleep .. then every morning
I'm piecing a dream that won't go away
Eyes are shut tight
It's my six thousandth time
At Tiffany Bastow's place
For half of my life .. this dream has not died
Every crowd .. I search for her face
Drift off to sleep
Then wake up and be
At Tiffany Bastow's place
Same dream each night
I walk up the drive
I swear I feel the wind on my face
I open the door and the fire's so warm
At Tiffany Bastow's place
Haunted by dreams for so many years
I tried to lock them away ..
And when I finally put a name to the face
I find she's even further away ..
Now she's even further away .. yeah yeah
I fall asleep .. then every morning
I'm piecing a dream that won't go away
Eyes are shut tight
And I'm back here tonight
At Tiffany Bastow's place
Same dream each night
I walk up the drive
I swear I feel the wind on my face
I open the door and the fires just roar
At Tiffany Bastow's place
Haunted by dreams for so many years
I tried to lock them away
And when I finally put a name to the face
I find she's even further away
Now she's even further away
Same dream each night
I walk up the drive
I swear I feel the wind on my face
I open the door and the fires just roar
At Tiffany Bastow's place
I open the door and the fires just roar
At Tiffany Bastow's place
Eyes are shut tight
It's my six thousandth time
At Tiffany Bastow's place
