about

TAKE THE MAN DOWN “Tony was the king of the sex and drug type thing.” There’s pure evil. And keeping in step with things we decided to steal this one from Jett and the boys. MEET THE BLACKS. Those guys. I’m not exactly sure which chapter we stole it from. Homework. For you. Jett was pretty cool with things and even added acoustic guitar. God bless the lad. Gave the song all the help he could. Consider this one Alt-country. With the word ‘rebel’ written all over it. A slice of Canadiana’s take on Americana, if you will. Truth be told, I’d actually give this song to Steve Earle just to hear him sing it. A true storyteller. A conjurer, a weaver of tales, if you will. A quick note. You’ll soon be able to keep up with the Meet The Blacks gang as they tear up stages and break young girls hearts. Does the road go on forever? A hint. It’s called ’The continuing adventures of Meet The Blacks’. You’ll be able to read all about them once our Storyteller section is activated. We’ll be sure to let you know. So here’s your bonus track. The last song. But not really. This is a bonus track. (Ain’t Got) You Beside Me is actually the last song on the album. But you can call this the last song if you really want to. Hell, laugh it up. Have a party. Consider it your private alternate truth … xoRJ

lyrics

Uh huh -

Old Joe Boudreau had a still on the hill
With the ‘G’ men and ’T’ men just sniffing around
When a couple kids went blind
And another couple died
They knew they had to find him quick and take the man

Take him down - take the man down
Take him down - that’s the only way they do it
When Old Joe missed the curve ‘cuz his brakes just wouldn’t work
They knew they’d finally found a way to take the man down
Take the man down …

Uh huh -

Tony was the king of the sex and drug type thing
Get high all day on China White and play with his gun
When he shot his self a cop
After shooting up the town
They knew they had to find him quick and take the man down

Take him down - take the man down
Take him down - that’s the only way they do it
When a girl he used to beat cooked him up his final treat
They knew they’d finally found a way to take the man down
Take the man down …

Uh huh -

If you step out of song, you’re dead, right or wrong
You’ll cover up your tracks and keep an ear to the ground
When the morning finds you shot down
Like a dog out in the street
You’ll know they finally found a way to take the man down

Take him down - take the man down
Take him down - that’s the only way they do it
You cover up your tracks and keep an ear to the ground
In the end they’re gonna find a way to take the man down

Take him down - take the man down
Take him down - that’s the only way they do it
When the morning finds you fenced up like a mongrel in the pound
You know they finally found a way to take the man down
Take the man down

Uh huh -
Take the man down - take the man down
Uh huh -
Take the man down - take the man down
Uh huh -
Take the man down

about

Robert James Wetaskiwin, Alberta

We didn't get to test drive "Friday Night" the way we wanted to. Mr./Ms. Universe stepped in. Our seventh full-length release "Piece Of Your Ghost" becomes available on June 18th, 2021. I'll see what I can do about a single release or two. September sounds good. Summer's coming! Time to kick a few ghosts around ... Something in mind ... hmmm ... xoRJ ... more
