Satyr’s Day Parade. “I couldn’t sleep last night, your lips kept me awake.” I’m getting ready for the summer shows and this was the original line before I changed it. Lately I’ve been singing it. I’ll have to stop that. But hold on .. Saturn says have fun. Obviously I only had a couple of sentences before I changed it and developed a story line. Hold on, there’s a story line? Originally I was the one having the parade, now I just want to lead her parade. Be a willing participant. This is a new song. I look out into my backyard and I see spring. It makes me think of courtship. I don’t know. Spring fever. Can I please be in the running for your affections. The very best sort of excuse for a parade. And I have to say it really has been too long since I’ve attended. I moved into my new home last July and spent the summer and fall getting the place winterized. No time for fun. And since I don’t ice fish and can’t figure skate worth a damn I thought I might spend the winter making an album. Just for the fun of it. And I was bound and determined that there be a title track, like the “Lizard” album and unlike the “Beth” album. And I’m just tickled pink that it’s the last track. There’s a lot of preparation for the big day. If you're planning a parade you'll probably need a song to keep the clowns and camels in line. Saturn, my taskmaster says it's time for a party and a parade, if you will. My biggest fear? "The sailor's day parade". Can't be helped. We don't get to attend nearly enough goat bashes. So much fun with this song. The last one written for the album. 2018 promises to be a fab year. Every year should be. Life's what you make it, it's good, keep it coming.
