Lizard On A Rock. The working title was lizard on a box. Thanks to my nephew Dylan. My brother Darcy’s son. I needed one more song for the project and I had a nice verse pattern that I was messing with on the Ovation acoustic. I hadn’t been home long. Having spent the last few weeks on a road trip. To visit my family back in Edmonton. I’d been home a couple of days at best. My nephew had packed a small plastic lizard in my suitcase. I had this little cedar box I kept on my kitchen table. Kept it full of guitar picks. So I placed the lizard on top of it. It’s a beautiful sunny day. I’m playing the Ovation acoustic and having a nice cup of tea. I settle into a cool groove. A bounce, if you will. And out of my mouth pops "I barely move at all, I'm a lizard on a box ..." After a couple of Weird Al verses, I finally got serious with the song. Always thought Michael and INXS should have covered this one. Trivia time. A joke. Did you hear the one. A rattlesnake walks into a bar. Bartender, an Armadillo, say what’ll you have? Rattlesnake replies. How about a lizard on the rocks? That one’s courtesy of Uncle Mal … xoRJ
