It’s Gonna Hurt. The first song entirely written in my new home. And in the shower. Don’t worry, I’m not silly enough to bring a guitar into the tub with me. But dig into the rock archives and you’ll find a name or two. Homework for you. I have David Bowie to thank for the space face reference. From Ziggy. More Homework for you. The space face section came first. I stayed with the chorus for awhile so I wouldn't forget anything. Then it's downstairs to the studio to start writing the verses. The guitar section at the end was originally supposed to be a keyboard solo but I couldn’t get the right flow and with the other parts it seemed like a bit of overkill. So I grabbed the trusty Strat and I don’t know why I thought of a guitar effect I had heard in an old The Cars tune. A later album. Homework for me. As soon as I dialled in the effects I wanted I knew I wouldn’t mess with it any further. My interplanetary love story. Off the cuff. I'm not quite sure how I ended up with a guy on Saturn and a girl on Earth. Inter-stellar love affair of a planetary flavour bound for a future sitcom? Who knows. Is he from Saturn or does he just work there counting Saturn’s rings? And what about her? It seems like she travels a lot. Should she be with the Saturn guy? He seems like a nice fellow .. er .. alien? More Homework .. this time for both of us. Let’s come up with a sitcom. You and me. Split it 50/50. The band had a blast recording this one … pony trekker led the way. If I ever need to write a sequel I imagine I’ll hit the shower … xoRJ
It's gonna hurt .. this is gonna hurt
It's gonna hurt .. really gonna hurt
It's gonna hurt .. think it's gonna hurt
It's gonna hurt .. this could really hurt .. aah ah -
Large time - fast train, jet plane
Life on earth will stop ..
Up here - I wave from Saturn
The cooler side of hot
Oh, no - you left me again
And you never made up your mind
Oh, no - don't want to believe
You won't make it out on time
It's gonna hurt, it's really gonna hurt
If you don't bring your space face back to me
It's gonna hurt, you know it's gonna hurt
If you don't bring your space face back to me ..
Bring your space face back to me ..
It's gonna hurt .. this is gonna hurt
It's gonna hurt .. really gonna hurt .. ah aah ..
Long nights .. counting rings here
It's warmer where you are ..
I wish you'd change your flight plan
Find a safety star
Oh no - the shuttles are ready
And you haven't made up your mind
Oh oh - three hail marys'
That you'll make it out on time ..
It's gonna hurt, it's really gonna hurt
If you don't bring your space face back to me ..
It's gonna hurt, you know it's gonna hurt
If you don't bring your space face back to me
Bring your space face back to me
It's gonna hurt .. this is gonna hurt
It's gonna hurt .. really gonna hurt .. ah ah
Bring your space face back to me !!!!
