Indigo Heart ~ It’s almost sunrise .. a ribbon of light on the hill. A friend or two worried about me. Depressed, RJ? This song is actually based on my interpretation of an illustration in a copy of Canterbury Tales by Chaucer. A castle in the background and the gallows in the foreground. One last visit. One last chance to see his lady love. Remember “Long Black Veil”? One of those types of story songs. Protect the lass’s honor at all costs. I feel that more than any other pairing, ill-fated lovers were also that in a past life love. Tragic twin flame. Think Bonnie & Clyde and you get where I’m going. Still need to add the acoustic and slide guitar parts, backing vocals and a bit more ear candy. I love this song. When I first wrote it I thought it might be a good slow filler for the album as it clocks in at four and a half minutes. But heartbreaking to sing. I kinda lost it a few times. And for the life of me I can’t explain it. Unusual with my own stuff. But I put on my big boy pants and made it through. Now I love this song. And so much more left to do to give it a fair shake ... xoRJ
