Gabriel's Horn ~ Every wall will rattle and shake .. I had no choice. I was all set to start working on a new song but I was interrupted. Angels. Those crazy wacky kids keep buzzing around the recording studio all day. Their suggestion. “Hey RJ, what about Gabriel’s Horn .. we like that one ..” Oh, they’re not all fire and brimstone but they sure love hearing the old stories. I had planned on doing a re-write after I shortened the tune considerably. The lyrics confuse me. Angels said they don’t care, they’ll piece the rest of the story together themselves. I’ll bet they’re keeping score. So yes, this is one of those eleventh-hour reprieves you may hear about from time to time. I’m not nearly finished on this one if it goes further. Still no signature guitar introduced from the original demo and tons of work needed in the mini-me section. Redo lead vocals, clean up aisle three .. again. It feels like it’s been energized though as I’ve added a few new twists to the song. I haven’t told the angels that you might not pick this song to go on the album .. they’ve probably figured that out .. expect angel bribery when you head off to sleep tonight .. the love goat’s work is done .. xoRJ
lyrics
Blow your horn .. ah, yeah -
On the black road that leads east
There’s a pail beside an old stone well
Where the saviour as a child would draw the water
When the face of one who looked back
On the cities of sin and evil
Bore a sour smile and then it was no more
Well you can - pack up my tents
You fetch my wine and water
I will waste out in the desert
Before I’d hear that angry roar ..
When Gabriel blows his horn
Every wall will rattle and shake
When Gabriel blows his horn
One blast - all it takes ..
When Gabriel blows his horn .. yeah, yeah
There’s a wall near Tel Mediggo`
With blood that stains but never dries
A sailor from Damascus who would wander
Every evening down the cobbled streets
With glowing lantern held up high
A bandage round a head that held no eyes
Fuck yeah ..
You pack up my tents
You fetch my wine and water
I will waste out in the desert
Before I’d hear that angry roar ..
When Gabriel blows his horn
Every wall will rattle and shake
When Gabriel blows his horn
One blast - all it takes —
When Gabriel blows his horn .. yeah, yeah
Gabriel blows his horn ..
Well, you can .. pack up my tents
You fetch my wine and water
I will waste out in the desert
Before I’d hear that angry roar ..
When Gabriel blows his horn
Every wall will rattle and shake
Every wall will rattle and shake
Every wall will rattle and shake
In other words .. a whole lotta rattling and shaking ..
possibly a little horn blowing as well ..
