“For every bird on every tree …” Ha. Here it is. Your birthday song. And so I wrote a song for everyone. And my first single release of 2021. The second release on a new label. Yes. I threw my lot in with HOH Records. BIRTHDAY SONG was originally titled HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME. Happy Birthday to you was taken, I believe. Walt Disney? No matter. I simply assumed you needed something a little more up to date. A toe-tapper, if you will. So I wrote you one. This one was originally destined for PIECE OF YOUR GHOST and to be released on my birthday. Hence, the birthday song. One of the last additions to the album’s line-up. Well, it’s a long story and you’ve heard it by now. Album delay. And well, the gang all got together. “Let’s see what we can do …” And so we decided to release this as a single. Something stand-alone that wouldn’t get buried as an album track. I don’t feel the need to keep this on the album. It just feels right as third song in on the …OR IN CYPRUS compilation. A stroke of luck has Catlin Hawley sitting in on Bass Guitar for this one. We were fumbling around with parts and not finding the right mesh. Catlin to the rescue. Special thanks, my amigo. Thanks to all for the ongoing support and dedication, it truly humbles me. So here’s a little slice of my life right back to you with love. The moment I wrote down the original title I knew it was wrong. This is our cake. For all of us. Maybe the only thing missing is more party crowns. Yes, that’s it. Happy Birthday to we.
