about

16/25 ~ I've been carrying this one around forever. First recorded while I was a member of Slydr. A hybrid top-40 band I guess. But we managed to pull off a 50/50 split between cover and original songs. I gained a valuable asset in that band. The anticipation song. I’ll elaborate. I was churning out songs. I’d hear a song on the radio and try to analyze what the follow-up would sound like. Just based on the artist’s sound, progression, lyrics and overall persona. I was starting to get pretty good at it. So a lot of versions of this one. Hell, I even have live board tapes of this one as a member of K.T. Rouge. I had forgotten about it until my younger brother suggested I re-record it. So I messed around with horns and backing vocals. Funny thing about the song is that the arrangement never changed. I did my damnedest to try and re-write and re-arrange it. Nothing stuck. It is what it always has been, a stock rock/r&b number. If this song wore a badge it would read "To thine own self be true." And I'm starting to evaluate my life in that same but fashion .. stay true .. xoRJ

lyrics

Ooh yeah -

Don’t come looking for me
Ooh, I’m trouble enough
And you aren’t really what I need

Don’t ya knock on my door
Tonight’s my night to howl
I’ll be somewhere on 49th Street, yeah yeah

49th Street - looking for crazy kicks
I missed .. when I was a kid
Those crazy kicks - ooh .. crazy kicks

Got a bottle of Tennessee Rye
And if that ain’t enough
I’ll find something sweet out walkin’ the street

When the bars are all closed down
The alley’s all the shelter I’ll need
Wait for the darker life on 49th Street .. yeah

49th Street - looking for crazy kicks
I missed .. when I was a kid
Those crazy kicks - those crazy kicks

rockroll - my my .. let’s get crazy ..

49th Street - looking for crazy kicks
I missed .. when I was a kid
Those crazy kicks - ah .. those crazy kicks

On 49th Street ..

Currently calling Wetaskiwin, Canada home, Robert has just released his 4th CD, "Satyr's Day Parade". Saturn's a bit of a taskmaster and the upcoming release "Kizza Me Now" is moving along at breakneck speed. The rough mixes are changing as he prepares the songs for a live setting. Although the upcoming release is a ten song affair, all the songs will get a make-over. Make-over .. mix-over. xoRJ ... more
