Friday Night 04:10
Switch is on but no one’s home That train done left the station Lamps were low all week long Miss my tribe - I miss my nation Need fast shoes … the night is waiting Call you up - c’mon along The funk you’re in is gonna twist you Grab your keys, grab your coat You’re missing out - I tell you, sister Stay at home with your big black clouds - or - Come and say hello to Friday night Everyone you know loves Friday night Grab it by the tail and hold on tight Come and say hello to Friday night I got the call - gang’s all in Be a shame you show up missing I’ll grab a cab … you’re on the way Heads or tails - it’s getting late Stay at home with your thunder clouds - or - Come and say hello to Friday night Everyone you know loves Friday night Grab it by the tail and hold on tight Come and say hello to Friday night So come and say hello to Friday night Everyone you know loves Friday night Grab it by the tail, swing it around and hold on tight, tight, tight, tight Come and say hello to Friday night Ooh yeah, ooh yeah, Friday night Lyrics & Music (c)2020 Robert James Angry Lion Publishing SOCAN/ASCAP A division of Horace Media 2020

The Kite 03:30
I - get lost Every time I hear that name I get nervous The walls close in I’m all kite in the wind I - can’t find A place where I fit it Close my eyes Watch her walking I’m all kite in the wind Kite in the wind Until she comes to reel me in Just a kite in the wind Nothing more … I - have tried Time and time again The halls are haunted And I can’t breathe I’m all kite in the wind All - this time Path was not in vain Dreams don’t die They just keep on truckin’ And I’m all kite in the wind Kite in the wind Until she comes to reel me in Just a kite in the wind Nothing more … Kite in the wind Until she comes and reels me in Just a kite in the wind Nothing more … nothing more Kite in the wind Until she comes and reels me in Just a kite in the wind Nothing more … Kite in the wind But will she come to reel me in Just a kite in the wind Nothing more … nothing more …nothing more … nothing more Lyrics & Music (c)2020 Robert James Angry Lion Publishing SOCAN/ASCAP A division of Horace Media 2020

Private Eye 03:54
Meet me after midnight, baby … Meet me after midnight, baby … Meet me after midnight, baby … Meet me after midnight, baby … They told her she could find me On the wrong side of the tracks She checked out my credentials And then she called me back A little out of season Cupboard’s bare and rent’s a little late - Oh, yeah - She knows I’m over thirty And the only local dirty private eye Meet me after midnight, baby … yeah, yeah - Meet me after midnight, baby … Nobody ever sees me My scene is never blown The chick was in the hen house So the fox was bound to show Night loves surprises - Like this pair of rubber boots out in the rain - Oh, yeah - Lies, deceit, and worry You’re gonna need a dirty private eye Meet me after midnight, baby - yeah, yeah Watch the rats all scurry When you find yourself a dirty private eye Meet me after midnight, baby - yeah, yeah Meet me after midnight, baby - private eye - They told her she could find me On the wrong side of the tracks Something in the hen house Want to make the fox come back She knows I’m over thirty And the only local dirty private eye Meet me after midnight, baby - Watch the rats all scurry When you find yourself a dirty private eye Meet me after midnight, baby - yeah, yeah Lies, deceit, and worry You’re gonna need a dirty private eye Meet me after midnight, baby - yeah, yeah Private Eye — Meet me after midnight, baby - Meet me after midnight, baby - Meet me after midnight, baby - Meet me after midnight, baby - Meet me after midnight — private eye Lyrics & Music (c)2020 Robert James Angry Lion Publishing SOCAN/ASCAP A division of Horace Media 2020

The Stand 03:58
Battles I have won Wars that I have lost Time is all but fleeting Waste it on the way Stick around ... The playing field gets even, baby Like a cloudy sky without a touch of grey Here is a life That just won’t wash away Those little lines that run Were placed there by the sun I will never stumble Been around too long to lose a fight Stand my ground They’d love me when I’m down But I am tall and standing in my light (just under 6’) Standing in my light - I am not a saint But I have always been here If I show the masks I wore They’d surely be afraid Many times before - I’d stand up and deliver That’s how the West was won Face me in the grey Someone broke a mirror Pieces on the ground Glue the mirror back as one Send love to the sun I will never stumble Been around too long to lose a fight Stand my ground Oh, they’d love me when I’m down I am tall and standing in my light I will never stumble Been around too long to lose a fight Stand my ground Oh, they’d love to see me down But I am tall and standing in my light I will never stumble Been around too long to lose a fight Stand my ground Oh, they’d love me when I’m down But I am tall and standing in my light Stand my ground Oh, they’d love me when I’m down I am tall and standing in my light Finally home and standing in my light … Lyrics & Music (c)2020 Robert James Angry Lion Publishing SOCAN/ASCAP A division of Horace Media 2020

Stranded 03:37
Stranded on a rock Miles from the shore Marooned at sea - paddle's out of reach Now it's gonna storm Behind your wall Cracks will show Fresh lick of paint - all's new again Pray nobody knows … tell me … Why'd they go and leave you stranded, baby With half a heart - Abandoned here and stranded, baby With half a heart Stranded on a rock Afraid of falling down Water's icy cold - it's treacherous below The sharks are all around — yeah, yeah — My, my … my, my … Well, you’re not sure what you hear And you're not sure what you see Swimming with the sharks is not where you want to be Swimming with the sharks is not where you want to be C’mon, tell me … Why'd they go and leave you stranded, baby With half a heart - Abandoned here and stranded, baby With half a heart Why'd they go and leave you stranded, baby With half a heart - Abandoned here and stranded, baby With half a heart Why'd they go and leave you stranded ... Why'd they go and leave you stranded, baby With half a heart - Abandoned here and stranded, baby With half a heart — tell me — Why'd they go and leave you stranded, baby With half a heart Abandoned here and stranded, baby With half a heart Half a heart, yeah … baby, half a heart Half a heart, yeah … baby, half a heart Why’d they go and leave you stranded … Lyrics & Music (c)2020 Robert James Angry Lion Publishing SOCAN/ASCAP A division of Horace Media 2020

I may be standing still Refuse to turn around No one to the left They’ve all gone underground Anarchy out in the streets I see it every night Everybody’s marching on the right Get goin’ … I wore a different coat back in ’38 Jackboots and their uniforms Came marchin’ through the gates Street lamps shone on broken glass Like crystal in the night And everyone was marching on the right Borrow the militia’s ammunition Grab your rifles and grenades I think you’d better hurry - I always start to worry When the only ones with loaded guns Are marching on parade … Get goin’ … Cha … Borrow the militia’s ammunition Grab your rifles and grenades I think you’d better hurry - I always start to worry When the only ones with loaded guns Are marching on parade … I may be walking slow Because I’m looking down Trying to avoid the bodies on the ground No FBI, no CIA and not a cop in sight When everybody’s marching on the right Anarchy out in the streets I see it every night Everybody’s marching on the right, yeah Everybody’s marching on the right … (yep, a bunch of guys singing about marching …) Lyrics & Music(c)2019 Robert James Angry Lion Publishing SOCAN/ASCAP A division of Horace Media 2020

If I catch you staring again With that “got to know you” look in your eye Might have to - kiss this heart good-bye And stroll on over Send another whiskey my way I might decide it’s my turn to buy Might have to - cut through the line And stroll on over I’ll stroll on over There’s something I been dyin’ to say I’ll stroll on over Smile again and I’ll stroll on over I really do believe what they say About diamonds just waiting to shine Might have to - polish up my lines And stroll on over So if I catch you looking my way With the “got to know you” look in your eye Might have to - wave it all good-bye And stroll on over I’ll stroll on over There’s something I been dyin’ to say I’ll stroll on over Smile again and I’ll stroll on over I’ll stroll on over There’s something I’m dyin’ to say I’ll stroll on over Smile again .. If you think it’s fine - I’ll stroll on over Just one more sign - I’ll stroll on over If you’ve got the time .. tick-tock - stroll on over We could make this shine, baby - stroll on over Look out here I come My mouth’s all dry Shaking like a leaf inside .. I’ll stroll on over There’s something I’m dyin’ to say I’ll stroll on over There’s something I’m dyin’ to say I’ll stroll on over There’s something I been dyin’ to say I’ll stroll on over .. look out, here I come .. After Eight 04:45
Just a little bit soaked Caught in the rain Could’ve been dry - but I - Missed the afternoon train Holding a note Seen better days Prowled your alley once - now I - Can’t remember the way Walking for hours and hours Can’t find your gate Oh, it took me forever and ever to ask for a date I should have been here by five I’m kinda late Oh, the face on my watch is all scratched but it’s after eight Tenement blocks That all look the same I’m feeling shy - ‘cause I - Missed the afternoon train Make my way home Hope to explain I get one more chance - swear I - I’ll make the afternoon train I’ve been walking for hours and hours Can’t find your gate You know it took me forever and ever to ask for a date I should have been here by five I’m kinda late - so late - You know - the face on my watch is all scratched but it’s after eight Yeah - It’s after eight - it’s after eight - it’s after eight - it’s after eight … Walking for hours and hours Can’t find your gate You know - it took me forever and ever to ask for a date I swear - I wanted to be here by five I’m kinda late - I’m so late Because - the face on my watch is all scratched but it’s after eight It’s after eight … (tick-tock) Lyrics & Music (c)2020 Robert James Angry Lion Publishing SOCAN/ASCAP A division of Horace Media 2020

Jett: Buster … Buster! Buster: Woof! Woof! Jett: C’mon boy - time to go … Buster: Woof! Woof! Jett: Ready for Mexico? Buster: Woof! Woof! Woof! Jett: Let’s see what’s on the radio … good? Buster: Woof! Well, I forgot about you a long time ago Just one of the many girls I knew Well, I don’t get around much anymore Fancy that - bumpin’ into you I lost your face in my foggy little way Now I can’t get you off my mind … Come back and stay - you got time to kill Maybe we can walk before you run I’m gonna drive down to Mexico And this could be your summer in the sun Yeah, I should be a saint … you know it’s been so long I can’t lie and say you were the last But I’ll bet you weren’t too lonely in that other world I share a separate world there in your past Now you embrace a familiar yesterday You’re only holding on and there’s no time … Come back and stay if you’ve got time to kill Maybe we can walk before you run I’m gonna drive down to Mexico And this could be your summer in the sun Come back and stay if you’ve got time to kill Maybe we can walk before you run I’m gonna drive down to Mexico And this could be your summer in the sun I’m gonna drive down to Mexico and back … And this could be your summer in the sun This could be your summer in the sun This could be your summer in the sun This could be your summer in the sun This could be your summer in the sun I’m gonna drive down to Mexico … I’m gonna drive down to Mexico … Jett: Stop for snacks? about

So come and say hello to Friday Night. Welcome to my sixth full- length release. To be honest, it’s all been a bit of a blur. I had hoped to begin recording new material with the new line-up. BANNED. It was feeling so good to be part of a unit again. I shine best there. Working with others. But. Unforeseen things. A pandemic perhaps. And so sorry about all of that. Things were fab. Here in CandyLand. Two bands on the go. Summer gigs. Things were on the move. And then the lockdown. Well, gee, everybody else is busy and inspired. So I looked at the “All Lit Up” playlist. Intuition. Follow it. I didn’t. As soon as I wrote “Friday Night” I knew it to be a cornerstone. I love architecture. Many of my heroes, some obscure, were tremendous builders. I’m deflecting. I ditzed around with the playlist when I should have followed my hunches. Intuition. There’s that word again. Assemble an album. It’s time again. I didn’t listen. Saturn kicked my ass. Not sure if Saturn’s a he or a she. No matter. Chin up, baby. So I got busy. And I pulled my usual ten songs from the playlist. Ten is magic for me. I was born on the tenth. I’m a Capricorn. It’s my last time around. And it’s a little bit crazy. This took so much out of me. I don’t know if I have it in my heart to do another album.

I’m a songwriter. I live in the moment of the song. And I’m at least two hundred songs behind. And I keep on writing. At times I’m writing a new song while I’m recording a previous composition. That’s the angels. So I’ve decided to release a new single each month. That way I’ll finish the song. And there’s a lot of new material. At least three blistering new songs. I haven’t had a chance to do anything with them yet. But they’ve stuck with me. Intuition. That word again. And if this is my last album, it’s only fitting that it should be in praise of Friday Night. I took the liberty of adding a bonus track. For Saturday. Depending on how you spent your Friday Night. Hey, not every Friday was a social success. And so I give you ten Friday Nights. Get to know them. Treat them like wardrobe. Whatever outfit suits your particular Friday Night. Hopefully, not too many of them will be lonely. Follow along. I’ll do my best to explain in each song’s liner notes. You’re reading this and we’re well into our celebration. I’ll end this so you can get on with the festivities. So come and say hello to Friday Night … xoRJ
