about
Never really had a chance to get any further on this one ... the 'Beth' sessions were almost completed when I first penned it. Recorded on the ADAT machine and to keep things fair, all five songs were recorded using the same process, quick and dirty with no punch-ins or punch-outs. First, a basic drum pattern which must've played for an hour or so while I completed my household chores. Can't record in a dirty shack, the Capricorn in me I guess. When I finally sat down with it, I stumbled on the verse pattern and just started singing some forgettable lyrics. The riff came later along with the lyrics ... let's say I had an absolute ball recording it. I finally got around to transferring the song to Pro-Tools just so I can jam. The tape machine needs a rest. 'Nuff said.
lyrics
Woke up Monday morning like the first fool of the week
Sunday always seems to pass me by
It's always such a drama tryin' to get a cup of coffee in me
Then to find my cigarette just died ...
Right about now I should be frantic, it's a little past the hour
It's gettin' hard to colour in the lines
I could do a lot of damage but it's more than I can manage
In the end I'm just walking through your fire
Walking through your fire
Tuesday was a panic and the evening really drained me
All those little friendships that explode
It's gonna be a lunarscape when all the kids arrive half-baked
They twizzy and they twirl out of control ...
I work at staying sober, take another crack at livin'
I'm not one for missing gettin' high
But I could be in so much danger if I wasn't such a stranger
In the end I'm just ... just walking through your fire
Just walking through your fire ...
I'm only walking through your fire ...
Right about now I should be movin'
'Cause this voice inside says "do it"
I know I'm late but I found out in time...
A tightrope or a ladder, it really doesn't matter
In the end I'm just ... a'walkin' through your fire
